SAFE Disc™
Using our Passive Trigger technology, Sentinel has developed a visual indicator system to provide immediate field based indication and characterisation of subsea emissions rather than needing to sample and send back to shore for testing.
Providing a rapid and at-source characterisation of subsea emissions, the system can be deployed via ROV or installed permanently on subsea infrastructure.
At-Source Detection
SAFE Disc™ is designed to provide a clear and simple visual indication when a specific material is detected in the subsea environment. Triggers include CO2, thermogenic gas, liquid hydrocarbons, and other subsea fluids.

Passive Triggers Inserted
Sentinel Subsea systems leverage proprietary Trigger technology that has been tested and field-proven to ensure reliable detection. Specifically engineered to respond solely to the targeted emission and nothing else normally found in the subsea environment.
Developed in partnership with Heriot-Watt University, Sentinel's technology has been successfully tested in real-world conditions, including a field trial in the Southern North Sea, demonstrating its effectiveness in monitoring subsea emissions.
Triggers can be inserted include to detect CO2, thermogenic gas, and liquid hydrocarbons, with future options for methanol, MEG, control fluid and pH variances.
Emission Characterised and Alert Displayed
Once the system comes into contact with the target emission, it activates an visual alert directly at the source location for rapid identification.
This clear and unambiguous signal confirms that the specific Trigger inserted has successfully interacted with the designated material, verifying its presence as part of a leak or emission event.
ROV-Based Tool
In ROV manipulator (zero integration to ROV required) for ad-hoc assessments of leaks.
The SAFE Disc™ ROV-Based tool is engineered to maintain constant positioning over an emission source, ensuring effective interaction with the Trigger. This advanced tool is designed for accessibility in hard-to-reach areas where movement may be restricted, making it ideal for complex subsea environments.
The SAFE Disc™ provides on-site identification and characterization of leaks, enabling swift assessment and response to potential emissions.
